Who's Ready for Some

TORO ATHLETICS

Toro Nation welcome to the 2023-2024 Athletic Season of Sport!!! I am beyond excited to start our 4th year as a school! Our Freshman class that started with us during the pandemic are now seniors. It has been great working with these student-athletes from the opening of the school to their senior year! I hope all Seniors have an amazing year that is filled with memories and excitement. Last season we had some major accomplishments with our athletic teams. Our Boys’ Cross Country team brought home a Section Championship and finished 6th at the state meet. Our Toro Wrestling team also brought home a Section Championship and had two wrestlers qualify for State. The boys’ Track & Field team brought home our first-ever NYL League Championship and they finished 2nd at the Section Championships. Our Girls’ basketball & Dance team also finished 2nd at the Section Championships this past season. Torres High Athletics has started off very strong and we look to keep that going this season. While being a Toro Athlete we have to always remember our “We Are T.O.R.O.S” traits. These traits stand for Trustworthy, Optimistic, Open-Minded & Selfless. We want our students & student-athletes to know these traits and model them as well. These traits are not just for our students but our staff follows them as well. To have a successful athletics program or school you have to get all parties to buy in and I believe that is what we are doing at Torres High School. Again I am excited for this 2023-2024 school year/athletic season and I look forward to making more memories & building on to the THS traditions. Go Toros & Horn up!!!

Thank you,
Jordan Murphy

What is an Athletic Trainer?

Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled healthcare professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training, and the state’s statutes, rules, and regulations. As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury, and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
