I lived in Oaxaca, Mexico until the age of 10. My family immigrated to Madera, CA and we have been here since. During high school, I took business classes and became a member of FBLA. I am a Madera High School alumnus, proud class of 2001. I attended Madera Community College and later transferred to CSU, Fresno where I received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. My lifetime goal has been to give back to my community therefore; I decided to go back to school to become a School Counselor. Prior to working with students, I did work as an accountant and later transitioned into a job at TJ where I worked with students providing tutoring, social-emotional support, and Restorative Practices. Soon after I was blessed to join the team to open Matilda Torres High School. My parents are my biggest inspiration; I enjoy spending time with my family. My hobbies include gardening, cooking, watching soccer games & listening to music and crafting. I am passionate about teaching students to self-advocate. My goal is to provide options for students, as they get ready to graduate high school. I am a firm believer that your past does not define your future and with hard work and dedication, you will achieve your goals.
Madera Unified is where students are challenged to broaden their vision, inspired by meaningful opportunities and strive for authentic achievements.
